Do you ever feel like you’re being tied down to an empty space? A feeling of hopelessness and depression becomes your reality because you yearn for a freedom that you cannot see?
Well, I’m here to not just tell you how you can live free, but I’m going to show you how to stay free! If this is your first time reading my blog, then let me introduce myself. I’m Tricia Parido and this week I want to bring you a little bit further into my story! In fact, I am going to get personal with intention because when we are seeking change, we must first look at the depth from which our pain is stemming! Anyone that knows me is well aware that I am an adoring wife, a mother of five amazing adult children, the grandmother of four beautiful youngsters, and the proud owner and creator of an amazing life coaching practice. You should also be aware that I feel blessed that I can say I have a pretty amazing life filled with genuineness, authenticity, love, and honor.
What is typically unknown is that my life didn't always look that way. You see I have a good 30-year story that has all this great wonderful life experience intertwined with a whole lot of traumatic events. In fact, between the ages of 4 and 26 years old, it was quite difficult to relish the beautiful things in my life because of all of the things I had to endure. The cool thing is I am a champion I am a warrior I always had this innate ability to pick myself up by the bootstraps and keep my life moving forward. I just didn’t know what I needed to know about my internal strength – if I had I would have had a better opportunity to function at a higher level!
To give you a little background, in the first half of my life I had experienced numerous sexual traumas and assaults, domestic violence, emotional abuse, poor adult and peer modeling, too much senseless death, near-death experiences myself, body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, panic, fear, social isolation, and of course I can't leave out the resulting eating disorders, chemical dependency, and a myriad of process addictions such as impulsive shopping, people-pleasing codependency, and perfectionism. The list for the second half of my life is so much shorter…. and honestly is far outweighed by gifts.
But there still was that day, that one day I woke up and realized the agony inside me, that deep pull to numb and cover my pain with something, anything - needed to go. I was yearning to feel valid, to believe that my thoughts, feelings, emotions, opinions, and beliefs held some sort of value. I had sunk into a devaluing story, only I was telling myself; it was being completely driven by my negative internal dialogue and the flames were being fueled by my past-trauma induced conditioned coping skills.
My journey to living free has been tremendously rewarding and now I want to give you some of the tools and tips I used to stay free!
